Happy New Year

2017 is gone and 2018 is now here to stay. It is a time of not only reflecting on the past but also looking forward to the future. As you look ahead, the most important thing that you can do this year, a resolution if you prefer that term, is setting out to deepen your relationship with Jesus. At Christmas time we like to talk about the reason for the season but we shouldn’t talk about this just at Christmas time. It is important thing to focus on all year long. Just Enough

I heard a sermon several months ago where the pastor made the statement that God has provided each of us just enough, just what we need from a financial standpoint. For example, the reason why we have the income we have is because God knows that is an amount that He can trust us with. It is an amount that is just enough. I’ve been mulling over this concept for many months now and I’m finally ready to share my thoughts. First let’s begin with a Bible verse: Continue reading “Just Enough”

Parallel Universe, True Stewardship

If your a fan of television shows such as Dr Who or Star Trek you know what a parallel universe is. It is an alternative existence to what is currently happening. It is a reality that co-exists with your own current existence. This concept is the best way that I know of to describe how our Christian walk effects our finances. There are two competing economies, Earth and God. They are polar opposites and yet they co-exist at the same time. As Christians we start life out by living in the former but we are called to focus on the latter. Continue reading “Parallel Universe, True Stewardship”

Thanksgiving, Christmas and a New Year

Instead of posting an article for each of these holidays I decided to make one combined post. The first thing I want to mention is the one thing I’m most thankful for, Jesus. God loved us so much that He sent His one and only Son to die for our sins. A son who was blameless and perfect. Someone who never deserved to be beaten and murdered. But God sent Him anyways because His love for us is greater than we could ever fathom. I know 2016 might not have been the year you wanted it to be but God still loves you. No matter what happens, His loves will never waver, never change, never lessen. That is defiantly something to be thankful for. Continue reading “Thanksgiving, Christmas and a New Year”

Greatest Giver of Them All

Many times in my life I’ve heard people say the Bible is old and it might have been relevant when it was written but it no longer is. It is true that society over the past two centuries has drastically changed but God’s word is just as true today as it was yesterday or a thousand years ago. First I will start with a verse and then look at where we are at today. Continue reading “Greatest Giver of Them All”

Status Symbols

They are different for everyone but I’m sure you know what they are for you. You know the stuff that will make you look successful or the stuff that makes you fit in with your friends, colleagues and neighbors. After all, you don’t want people to think less of you because of the home you own, the cars you drive or the clothes you wear, right? Well, not so fast. Continue reading “Status Symbols”

How to Deal with Financial Uncertainty

In life we have all sorts of unknowns. It is something we have to deal with on a daily basis whether we want to or not. One of the areas of life where uncertainty is the most unwelcome is our finances. During market downturns you can easily lose tens of thousands of dollars in a few short days. These loses, or even the fear of impending loses, can create a lot of stress and anxiety. So how do we deal with this constant uncertainty? I believe the best way to discuss this topic is from a Biblical perspective. Continue reading “How to Deal with Financial Uncertainty”
